hmmm... I think the opposite is true: most chess programmers are quite bad
players... not all as bad as me, but look at the following:

here is my ICC statistics of my private account:

Statistics for Pommi On for: 0 Idle: 0

rating [need] win loss draw total best
Wild 1119 [6] 0 1 0 1
Loser's 1263 [6] 8 9 1 18
Bullet 1126 [8] 93 167 9 269 1231 (08-Feb-2000)
Blitz 1325 [8] 366 384 43 793 1435 (02-Feb-2000)
Standard 1444 [6] 3 1 0 4
1-minute 935 [8] 8 18 0 26 991 (18-Oct-2001)

and the next one is from my engine:

Information about QuarkX(C) (Last disconnected Wed Jan 15 2003 00:37):

rating [need] win loss draw total best
Bullet 2584 1048 180 102 1330 2667 (21-Aug-2001)
Blitz 2632 2362 642 363 3367 2757 (02-Jun-2001)
Standard 2512 1263 327 185 1775 2546 (11-Jan-2003)

Well, Vincent told me once that I should get the price for the biggest
difference between programmer and program... :) -> But I think Scott Gasch is a
tough competitor in that contest... :)

Greets, Thomas
