Hi all of you, when I occasionally test Junior5 with blitzgames on ICC (on a P200MMX with 32Mbhash), I still have much fun and see interesting games with both Junior wins and Junior losses. I like the games against WchessX especially, since this program seems to be a class act concerning some kind of static evaluation functions (if I don't judge it wrong): it often plays like "knowing" good moves in a given situation without having to calculate too long (running on a AMD K6-233). Junior is well able to lose games against WchessX. Most games are simply fascinating, and some of Junior's wins are really beautiful. I liked the following French game especially while playing it: WchessX - Junior5beta [C15] ICC [DF] 32768kB, Power.ctg=7520805 pos 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.Nge2 dxe4 5.a3 Be7 6.Nxe4 Nf6 7.N2g3 0-0 8.c3 Nc6 9.Nxf6+ Bxf6 10.Ne4 Be7 11.Bf4 f5 12.Ng3 Bd6 13.Bc1 e5 14.Bc4+ Kh8 15.d5 Qh4 16.Be2 Ne7 17.0-0 Rd8 18.Qb3 Bc5 19.Bc4 a6 20.a4 Rb8 21.a5 Bd7 22.Re1 Bxf2+ 23.Kxf2 f4 24.Rxe5 Qf6 25.Rxe7 fxg3+ 26.Kxg3 Qxe7 27.h3 b5 28.axb6 Rxb6 29.Qa2 Rg6+ 30.Kh2 Qd6+ 31.Kh1 Qg3 32.b4 Bxh3 33.Bg5 Rxg5 34.Bf1 Rgxd5 35.Qc2 Rd2 36.Qe4 Bxg2+ 37.Bxg2 Rd1+ 38.Bf1 Qh3+ 39.Kg1 Qxf1+ 40.Kh2 Qg1+ 41.Kh3 R8d3+ 42.Qxd3 Rxd3+ 43.Kh4 Qg3+ 44.Kh5 Rd5# 0-1 Meanwhile Junior5 reached an ICC rating of about 2860 with my configuration, though many other programs over there are supplied with some or even much more hardware power. This looks considerably strong to me. Bruce and Bob, correct me if I'm wrong. By the way: Ferret on it's Alpha clearly seems to be a bit to strong for my hardware ;-) Greetings to Bruce: it's not only fast, it's been playing real nice chess in my 5 5 encounters and was successful in outsearching my manually operated efforts :-) All in al what I saw confirms what I said earlier: Junior5 seems to be a real strong blitzer, while having a nice tournament performance (40/120) as well... Kind regards from Dirk
