gprof does pretty well.

Every commercial compiler worth having comes with a profiler.

Intel's profiler is the best one.

Some others I have used:
TrueTime
Microsoft's
DEC's
gprof
prof

Probably some others I can't remember right now. Actually for sure, but I can't
remember the names. When I was at Microsoft, I used to check out tools like
that from the technical library and I have also used many tools of that nature
on different jobs.
