I know you were, so was I!:o) I honestly believe, with the rate of progress, that 2010 is a fair projection. It could be the top players, and only the top players will be able to continue to win some, not all games at 40/2 on PC's, but on another Deep Blue type project, maybe 1 in 10 games at best. By 2018 chess won't be solved, but it will be so advanced, that a _draw_ will most likely be the best anyone could ever get, on a supercomputer, and maybe, a win once in 100 games. This due to bugs or something the computer still can't handle correctly. I've been pretty good at estimating the rate of progress, so only time will be my judge;-) Here's a more daring projection, but I doubt I'll be around to be proven wrong; Chess will be solved by 2050!:o) Terry
