The programs still play within its "field of >vision" Solving the problem you pose is made difficult by the fact that there is so much variation between the play of various humans. For example, the play of a 1500-1600 human is very different from the play of a 2800-2900 human. There is also variation among people of the same rating. People have different styles and approaches to the game. Example: Petrosian versus Tal. I cannot answer your question, but I do see how the answer could be obtained. It would take a serious research project and lots of effort. Bob D.
