Subject: Another "let's kick Chessbase for bad Fritz 8 QA" message

Actually, a nasty problem with a solution which requires PC knowledge.

Following a mistake by myself (letting the laptop out of my sight for too long)
I found I was locked out of Fritz 8; when I loaded it presented a small window
entitled 'Shredder 7' and hung. Evidently my laptop-borrower had been playing
around and selected the Shredder 7 GUI option although I don't have S7
installed.

The (eventual) fix was to go into

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application
Data\ChessBase\ChessProgram8\GUI8.ini

and change the lines

[GUIVersion]
Version=1

to

[GUIVersion]
Version=0

Wow, that was intuitive :/

Surely the program should either:

- disable the Shredder 7 GUI option if S7 isn't installed, or:

- if it has to be enabled for some obscure reason, silently switch to the Fritz
8 GUI in the situation encountered?
