Actually, looking at egtb.cpp, I can understand why I also have lock.h. It is included from egtb.cpp. It's not necesary of course, but it's still included, and then redefined. So on any compiler, if SMP is not defined, lock.h will be included and defined Lock() etc. to nothing, but defined them, and then egtb.cpp will include this and itself redefine Lock() etc. to the same thing, which is an error, that some compilers choose only to warn about. I still don't understand the machtypes.h thing. /David
