There is no free strong program for the Palm.
I doubt there will ever exist one, as it is extremely difficult to program a
strong program for such a slow hardware.
I know that very well, as I have written myself Chess Tiger for Palm.
You could have a look at http://www.chesstiger.com. Chess Tiger for Palm is not
free, but at $19.95 I can tell you it's dirt cheap, because the Palm engine is
EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE PC VERSION OF CHESS TIGER.
Chess Tiger on an overclocked Palm m105 is around 2100 elo (as measured by the
SSDF, comparable to 2100 FIDE elo or 2300 USCF elo).
However if you want something free you can download Chess Tiger and use it in
demo mode. A few features are disabled in demo mode, but maybe they are not very
important for you. Just try it...
