On my PC (AMD XP1800+) Shredder 7 UCI is performing about 8% faster than Shredder 7 CB. This is true whether I run Shredder 7 UCI in CB GUI or Classic UCI. Other UCI engines also run the same speed in both GUIs (e.g. Ruffian). Although Sandro Necchi's opening book is near identical in Classic & CB GUI it does not behave the same. 1. The Tournament book in Classic GUI is narrower than in CB GUI. 2. The learning behaviour of the opening book in the 2 GUIs is different. 3. There are far more parameters which effect the choice of opening move in Classic GUI than in CB GUI. My belief is that the Sandro Necchi book works much better in the Classic GUI than in the CB GUI. Furthermore the Classic GUI has an additional learning function over the CB GUI. Both GUIs remember every position. But the Classic GUI remembers refutations.
