This is wrong as already commented by others.

In case of commercials, they had been operated in previous CCT events by
operators and the authors themselves had not been present in most cases (perhaps
with the exception of junior).
IMO, this makes their participation far less interesting. It's one of the goals
of CCT that the developers chat a bit with each other. It's not a pure hunt for
elo and victory but just a lot of fun.
