Some buy chess programs because of a particular style. e.g. Junior 7 may not be the best program, but I like watching it play, and up to now remains my favourite program. Same can be said about the Gambit Tigers. Cm9000 is another one that has a distinct style, that is enjoyable to watch. The top programs are close enough in strength, that I dont care which plays the best, rather one that is different from the rest.
