I think you are missing a point somewhere. It's not that they couldn't, it's that they wouldn't :) If they make it connect and kibitz on ICC, what do you think their customers will demand on the next release? Or maybe they didn't want to risk a defeat, or didn't felt they had time to prepare properly. I can think of many reasons a lot more probable than "too much work to make it kibitz", which just sounds like an utterly bad excuse to me (certainly given their programming expertise!). Even if they had to spend 5 hours coding to make it connect right, I'd still say this isn't enough reason to drop out, I spent way more than 5 hours making it ready. Was a business decision of some sort, that's all, nothing to do with the rules. -S.
