For Linux/KDE 3.x users, this is shaping up to be a cracking good Winboard/ICS interface: http://www.knights-chess.com/ There have been some big strides made since 0.5.6, in particular: - (hallelujah!) removal of the confusing interface where buttons were used to switch between active games, making it depressingly easy to be viewing the wrong game without knowing it; - inbuilt interface for setting parameters for a variety of engines (so the common, and justified, cry of 'how do you configure the chess engine in Linux?' - answer, by manipulating text files somewhere - is finally being silenced); - seek graph; - the beginnings of UCI support. I hope the bug where it produced invalid algebraic notation (occasional things like 'Bg2e4') is fixed, especially as I reported it, but haven't got that far yet. There is a Mandrake package in contribs, for good measure. Alastair
