In my testing I am seeing a big difference between Shredder 7 Classic & Shredder 7 CB [over a 100 ELO gap between Shredder 7 Classic (311 games) & Shredder 7 CB (193 games)]. In all games I am using the opening book which came with the engine, set to the Tournament setting. Shredder 7 UCI is 8% faster than Shredder 7 CB in any GUI. But this does not account for the majority of the difference. The big difference between CB GUI & Classic GUI is the way Sandro Necchi's book "learns" and "chooses" its move. The book seems to be well suited to the Classic GUI but NOT to the CB GUI. I intend to test this hypothesis by using a "common" specially prepared opening book or use the Nunn opening positions to compare Shredder 7 Classic GUI & Shredder 7 CB GUI. I am using auto232 using a null modem cable for tests between different GUIs on a single PC.
