i think kotov teaches humans to play play like silicon....trees of analysis for decisions, its all very minimax O-R type stuff to me. i remember seeing a book of botvinniks about chess and computers it felt so much like kotov. as far as the russian authors go, the trainer who helps me always recommends, suetin to me and after that, romanovsky. i read in russian very slowly, and i often supplement a russian text with a german or spanish translation when i can find them used or cheap. alot of the american translations are excellent but highly abridged of game content, which exemplifies more to me than the explicatory paragraphs that are retained. you sound like a very strong player, sandi, as well as modest. it is not common to beat grandmasters, particularly if they are strong. still it is possible to do what you say, i know this because when i run a tactic key on a current twic games download, then to search the keys to start reading the piece play of IMs and weak GMs from small countries in zonal tourneys, i have to wince when i see them miss the mate-in-ones. i am so sorry to hear of your problems at ICC i do cap2 work in the background when i play there and have yet to suffer troubles. my experience at playchess.com is different though, whenever i have a good streak of uck the auto detect program on their erver goes berserk and print red warning letters on my screen. i bitch to the sysops and they apologize to me but say this sort of thing is necesary to catch the real criminal cheats.
