In 1983, we were searching about 100K nodes per second, current crafty is searching 2.4M nodes per second. It wouldn't be much of a contest. However, 1994 Cray Blitz, on 1995 hardware (A Cray T90 with 32 processors) searched at about 7M nodes per second, so I would suspect Cray Blitz would win a contest if it used the fastest Cray available... I played a match about a year and a half (or maybe 2) years ago, using my quad 700 vs a T90, and Cray Blitz won easily. You can find mention of this in the CCC archives. I think the result was something like 7-3 but I am not certain.
