Subject: Kasparov sacrifices bishop to gain position, 1983

Author: K. Burcham

Date: 20:16:28 01/23/03

In this position Kasparov played 21.Bxg7 with a loss of material.
Kasparov thought this was a positional gain losing the bishop.
First question: will the programs agree with Kasparov and sac the bishop?

I assume Kasparov could see this line, and the position after this line is
played.
You can see that Kasparov is down in material with the bishop loss.
Second question: do the programs agree after this line that the position is
better for Kasparov with the loss of material?
position after this line 21. Bxg7 Kxg7 22. Ne5 Rfd8 23. Qg4+ Kf8
