I play a correspondence game and I decided to follow shredder7's book in the first moves. one of my games started 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 Nf6(I expected 3...cxd4 and only this move is denoted by !!) My first thought was that I should punish my opponent for wrong order of moves but I see that Shredder has !! only for 4.Nc3 that let my opponent go back for the main line by 4...cxd4 I started to look at other lines and found that 4.Bb5+ is mentioned as ? I continue to look forward in shredder's book to understand the reason for it and found 4...Nbd7 5.Nc3 cxd4 and now both captures of d4 are mentioned by ? The only alternative not to lose material is Bxd7+ and it is not mentioned in the book. Note that Fritz8 and Shredder7 evaluate all 3 captures with positive score but I did not give it hours to analyze. I will probably play the main line but my question is not what to play but what is the reason for these ?'s. espacially I do not undertand the ? to Nxd4 and Qxd4 because the only alternative(Bxd7+) seems to me to be worse.
