Hello, I had a pretty good idea which may have been done before but how about taking the Latest Version 7 or 8 of Hiarcs, Fritz, Shredder, Junior , 19.02 of Crafty and any other programs put them on the Latest and greatest Athlon or P4. Match those programs against the Earliest version on the Slowest hardware you can find or whatever you can get to run windows. If crafty is used what's the slowest hardware you've heard anyone running it on. How long untill the early versions win a game? Also running the oldest version against the newest on the same hardware. I think this isn't done nearly enough.
