P4 chips are hotter than AthlonXP chips. If you don't believe me go read the technical documentation on the P4's. They only list the AVERAGE wattage, not the maximum. The tech docs specifically say, "The numbers in this column reflect Intel’s recommended design point and are not indicative of the maximum power the processor can dissipate under worst case conditions." The P4-3.06 is actually around 110 watts, not 82 watts. This is over 60% than an AthlonXP 2700+.
