3...Sf6 is a common move (played often by Shirov for example) and not a wrong
move order.
the idea is to prevent white from playing 4.Qxd4 Nc6 5.Bb5 Bd7 6.Bxc6 Bxc6 7.c4.
the question marks in the books are meaningless comments.
