You could be running programs that have "Memory Leaks" - which means,
that they allocate memory, but do not completely free it up. It could even be
just one program. For instance, I know this happens to me ( AMD XP 2400 512MB
WinXP ) when I run Links 2001 for an extended period of time. If this is indeed
the case, there are 3 solutions: Reboot often, buy more memory, isolate the
program(s) with memory leaks and don't use them. If you are running DOS programs
in WinXP, please let me know how you are doing it - I wanted to install my old
copy of Panzer General (a DOS program), but the install said I did not have
enough memory (XMS I think it was, I forget now), so I never bothered. I did
however get Allied General to work (a Win95 program using the Compatibility
Wizard).
