I have been running many tournament games w/ Fritz7 vs. Fritz8 and have
found Fritz8 to always be coming on top of Fritz7 in all time levels. Then last
night I noticed something, I was using Fritz 7.0.0.2 instead of Fritz 7.0.0.8 (I
have Fritz 8.0.0.8). Apparently, when I got Fritz8, I removed Fritz7, but did
not copy the 7.0.0.8 engine (although, I thought I did). I must have copied the
Fritz 7.0.0.2 from the Fritz7 CD and never upgraded it (although the PlayChess
server should do this automatically).
Now I have run over 75 Blitz 5' games Fritz7.0.0.8 vs. Fritz8.0.0.8 and
found Fritz7.0.0.8 to be on top !!! - granted 75 games at one time control does
not make for a great sample, but wow, what a difference. Hopefully, the Fritz8
upgrade due out soon will make a big difference. They sure did from Fritz7.0.0.2
to Fritz8.0.0.2
Any comments would greatly be appreciated.
