No great emphasis was put on the hardware platform for the Kramnik-DF match. Perhaps one can infer that there was no hardware sponsor. One might imagine that Amir/Shay see the spotlight as belonging to the DJUNIOR software rather than the hardware ... there is no hardware chip here and ... again, we may infer that there is no hardware sponsor. Conclusion: we may see kn/sec on the screen and even find out what hw is being used, but it's not core information. I think hardware companies are missing out. The hardware plays its part: it must be reliable (e.g. not overclocked to the point of melt-down) and an uplift of 3x in kn/sec means one ply more search and about 60 ELO higher rating at a depth of 14 plies search. g
