Official response by Guy Haworth, below (Deep Junior Hardware header), of ICGA is essentially that harware is not "core," as they did not get a hardware sponsor, and that they may or may not tell the public what hardware is being used: "No great emphasis was put on the hardware platform for the Kramnik-DF match. Perhaps one can infer that there was no hardware sponsor. One might imagine that Amir/Shay see the spotlight as belonging to the DJUNIOR software rather than the hardware ... there is no hardware chip here and ... again, we may infer that there is no hardware sponsor. Conclusion: we may see kn/sec on the screen and even find out what hw is being used, but it's not core information. I think hardware companies are missing out. The hardware plays its part: it must be reliable (e.g. not overclocked to the point of melt-down) and an uplift of 3x in kn/sec means one ply more search and about 60 ELO higher rating at a depth of 14 plies search. g" On January 26, 2003 at 11:02:19, Anthony Martini wrote: > I've been searching for hardware specs for the Kas vs. DJ match...
