While conspiracy theories are fun, they are usually advanced after the fact. To increase the value of a conspiracy theory, I think that it's important that it be advance BEFORE the fact, so that it seems to have predictive value. In K vs. DJ, I predict that Kasparov will win a very narrow margin. I say this because (1) the world's top players are now getting sizeable purses from playing the top computers...this gravy train would stop if one side crushed the other. So, for the money, there's got to be suspense. That makes the future money bigger; (2) But...Kasparov is still smarting from his loss to Deep Blue. His allies have done a good job of presenting DJ as stronger than Deep Blue, however. That way, if Kasparov is stronger than DJ, then surely he was really stronger than Deep Blue...he was just freaked out or something. To satisfy both of the above constraints, Kasparov must win by a narrow margin. Now let's see what happens. ;) Roger
