I really don't want to clutter up this board with yet another 'DJ vs K' post, but I think I have a few things to say that most of the other posters don't. A few months ago, before this match was even annouced publicly, Shay e-mailed me and asked me to test DJ 'in house'. And I happily did. I ran it through suites of 1,000s of human vs computer positions, played 1,000s of computer vs computer games, and reported back every little detail I found. I even did an interview with a reporter, setup by Shay and Amir. Long story short, the Deep Junior you will see today is without a doubt one of the best chess playing programs, ever. Even when compared to Cray Blitz, Belle, and yes, even Deep Blue. This program is 100% amazing. Granted, I did not, nor do I now have the program that will be playing today. I did have the World Champ version, and the program that was given to Kaspy. However, I know for fact, the version playing today, is simply better. I have always stood beside Bob in the belief that Deep Blue was 'the chess playing machine'. It simply overpowered everything else. However, I truly believe Deep Junior playing on the HW stated in other posts, will be just as much as an opponent as Deep Blue. I wish Shay and Amir the best of luck in the upcoming games. They have worked hard, and deserve this more than anyone else I can think of. There is a lot of 'hyperbole' (as Bob would say) in this match, but that's just marketing. What we are going to see in the next few days, will be without a doubt, some of the most amazing chess ever played. Perhaps after the match I will, with Amir and Shay's permission, post some of the 'amazing' abilities that DJ showed me while I was testing it. Perhaps even suites and other tests. I want to also thank Shay and Amir for letting me in on 'their little secret', and giving me the chance to test a program that only a few in the world got to enjoy. I wish you both the best of luck, in all you do. Slater Wold
