Deep Blue performance is more impressive than Deep Fritz because of the worse software (hee, maybe it was not worse ;) and yet it was able to win. It's the HW/SW combination that counts. The DB-team invested a whole lot of time in designing their hardware. It's not like they went to a PC shop and bought it there. The reason why people ignore this fact escapes me at the moment... Sargon PS. I will start to believe that DB is worse than xyz at that day, when people will stop mentioning DB. I guess that takes a while. ;) PPS. No, I'm not in the "DB is better than xyz"-camp, I'm in the "I simply don't know"-camp. A chess-agnostic, so to speak. :)
