I just upgraded my pc (an 1GHz Athlon with 512 Mb) with winxp Home edition and i did some tests with fritz 7 engine. I have discovered a poorer KN/s performance than win98. Not satisfied of these results, I installed my fritz 7 on a laptop acer 427 (2500 MHz 512 Mb Ram) win win xp pro edition i got better (of course at least) and proportional (respect at what i have got with 1 GHz) results but lower than expected on win 98 (a friend of mine told me he can reach about 1000 KN/sec with amd 1800 and i reached about 900). I reached at 3 possible conclusions: a) My friend is a liar :) b) My XP settings is not optimized for chess c) Win 98 has better performance than Win xp Appreciate any comment and any help TIA Antonio Palma
