Chessmaster 9000 (Utz12p) on an Athlon XP 2000+ prefers b6 over Bxa7+ by a lot:

Time	Depth	Score	Positions	Moves
3:55	1/12	4.38	52232208	1.b6 cxb6 2.axb6 Qxc6 3.Bb5 a5
					4.Bxc6 bxc6 5.Qd3 Kb7 6.Ra2 Bc3
					7.Rc1 Nxc5 8.Qxc3
3:15	1/11	1.49	42061772	1.Bxa7+ Ka8 2.Bc5 Nxc5 3.dxc5 Qd8
					4.b6 Qe7 5.a6 Qxc5+ 6.Kh1 cxb6
					7.axb7+ Kb8 8.Ra8+ Kc7 9.Qg3+ e5
					10.Qxe5+ Rxe5 11.Rxh8 Re8 12.Rxe8
