Subject: Any half decent chess programs written in BASIC?

I've written a chess program called "Deep BASIC" as a hobby and I'm looking to
compare it to other chess programs written in BASIC. So far I have only found
two programs that work, one called "New Proto Chess System" and another one that
was written by a French person way back in 1984. I did find another chess
program written in BASIC with nice graphics (for DOS BASIC), but when I started
it up the opening move was h4 and then I couldn't move my own piece because the
mouse cursor was invisible. So much for that.

So it seems that the vast majority of chess programs written in BASIC play very
poor chess. I have heard of one program called "Rabbit" which uses some
assembler to improve speed but I cannot find this one. Does any one know where
I can download it? As for my program, I estimate its strength to be around
1500, and it can only search 3000 NPS on my Athlon 650 which is about 4 ply in
20 seconds. It also has a 40,000 move opening book. If anybody is interested in
it, I can make it available for download.

Here is the game played against New Proto Chess System. This program seems very
good at committing suicide even though the code is almost twice the size of
mine.

And here is the game against the French program. It played surprisingly well
considering the small size of the program.
