Did you try to follow the line and stop before 41.Ra7 to see if it's still favour White so much. This line was the line I thought would give Bareev a very good endgame when I watched the game. My thought was 41.Be5 and if 41...Nxe5 White get a protected passer. If he not take then the pressure against b7 should force capitulation. Bareev played 37.f3 here and Hiarcs did a little combination. Maybe the move itself is hard to find, but since the response is quite forced and it end up in an equal (maybe forced draw) position, it is more like Silman's 'idiot combination'.
