I do not see any GM's getting a fair chunk of the prize money in a tournament when they enter. This should be no different. How would feel internally if on one hand you are given the majority of a prize fund OR you are only paid so much for a win, loss & draw. I think you know the answer. Do you really think you would see high quality games if GM's just got an opulent amount of money? On the one hand I would take the money also BUT the desire to really push it would not be there. Money has totally demolished the american pasttime of baseball, basketball & football. Look at the old-timers in any sport. Nutrition, weight training & steroid use was not known then but most of them did much better correspondingly to the cry babies we have in sports now. What gave them that special pop? It was not money. It was heart and passion. The owners told you what were getting paid and that was the end of it and they paid most of them next to peanuts to what we see today.
