You agree with me.

I completely disagree, through my own observation of the phenomenon.

Just open your eyes. All the time! Just go through a few famous annotated World
Championship-level games using your favourite engine and see how it fails to
analyse the positions adequately within "real-time". Take the Nolot EPDs as an
easy-to-download example but similar sacs and positions are frequent. The GMs
came up with these ideas over the board in actual play, ok the comps can "solve"
some of them but only after running all night.

I am deeply interested in computer chess, I wrote my own program in Fortran 24
years ago (source totally lost, alas <g> ) and I own half-a-dozen commercial
chess engines, as well as the best free ones. I use them all the time when
examining or observing top level chess. I run a (C) account on ICC. I kibitz
gratuitous computer evals during broadcast games. I am therefore firmly in the
"computer camp". It nevertheless repeatedly astonishes me how people seem to
believe that just because DJ is tied with Kaspy in this match, it has done so by
playing equally "good" chess. I find it hard to credit that such comments can be
made by anyone who has actually watched the game (especially if comparing live
engine v GM analysis) rather than merely going by the result.
