In game 3 of the Event "X3D Man vs. Machineā, 9.Bd2 probably was not the best
move, because it as a bad key move led to the middlegame or endgame where
checkmating black king was almost impossible. Although Kasparov liked to play
opposite castled unbalanced games, planning to attack black king side
aggressively in the very complex Slav Defense was not worth the risk. Therefore,
the move 9.O-O was recommended. It enables white to strategically build a good
king attacking plan in balanced games. I believe if Kasparov had played the move
9.O-O instead yesterday, he might win the game. Please see another very similar
but balanced game in PGN format below as a good example.
