That is not the purpose of PGN tags. IMHO the tag is an outlaw if it includes escape chars, but everything between the opening and closing bracket is accepted (and hopefully parsed), correctly. If the tag includes a "+" and an integer is the next non-whitespace char, then the first double quote following that integer is ignored. Dave
