One of the problems I am facing for not making my source open, or at least giving it to Dann, is the lack of specialized executables. The performance difference of different builds by different compilers on different architectures or processers, is quite large. So if people want to use Chezzz in a tournament, I suggest they drop me a line with a description of the hardware and the OS, and I will try to build an executable that doesn't suck too much in that particular environment. >...snip > >>But the main idea of releasing Chezzz on my part is to have people telling my >>what they think is wrong and what they want, as I go along, instead of me >having to guess the best way to do things. Lately I've been running with rather small books because I have no book learning or anything to filter out all the bad positions in various pgns used to build books from. Anyway, the books posted on the site now, are just examples. Sometime in the future, I will probably (in that order) 1. try to build books of better quality 2. supply more options of controling the book creation and the book use 3. implement more advanced features like book learning In the meantime, people can build books themselves out of pgns with the "book create" command. >I have downloaded the large and medium ones meanwhile - the large one >is ahem really large ;) but no problem for my DSL connection (your site >seems to be quite fast also BTW). I'm glad to hear it :) /David
