The problem for lower rated players -both with Katachess as with CT-Art is a
lack of explanation. If one is a wee bit stronger and know to name the patterns
from say your basic chess tutoring books these drills are a great way to
"practice theory".

I would go for a good instruction book like "The mammoth book of chess" or some
book extending from opening to endgame and progress on all themes - then switch
to software training.

Maybe ChessMentor is a better choice at the 1100 stage (http://www.chess.com,
also a downloadable trial version)
