In other words the index is computed assuming a fixed order for the men, for example kings before, than white men and finally black men, obviously with an exact rule for the sequence. This IMHO is only the simplest hypothesis. A question: also for instance kqkq.nbw and kqkq.nbb are different? Or this happens only with pawns? Ciao Guido
