Kasparov knew that if he played 27...Nc5 it could prolonged the game beyond an additional 80 moves which he wasn't ready to endured without making any human blunder. The most important factor to consider is not getting into time trouble, and by playing 27....Nc5 he knew that it was going to be a very long long long game. In a long game Kasparov knew that the computer was NOT going to get tired, or rung into time trouble, therefore the most logical thing for him to do was to offered a draw in a slightly better position. I know that this is only a shootout between Fritz8, but take into consiration that Fritz 8 always played the best move possible for both sides and being a program, it avoided any possible traps or even worse blunders. http://talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?282785
