I let my (weak) program S-chess v1.42 (does brute force) look at the bottom two positions, and here's what it "thinks".. (ahum) when i let it run for a longer time.. Going to give the 1st position a go later. Well it was just a test for myself to see what it would find in these positions but I'll post it anyway.. :) The 2nd position : [D]8/p4pk1/3p2p1/Pp2p3/1P1n2P1/6KP/4q3/2Q2R2 b - - 0 38 3 54 0 1185 Qe2-c4 Qc1-b1 e5-e4 3 80 0 2353 Qe2-d3 Kg3-h2 e5-e4 4 73 0 4466 Qe2-d3 Kg3-g2 Qd3-e4 Kg2-h2 5 89 0 13086 Qe2-d3 Kg3-g2 e5-e4 Kg2-h2 6 78 1 94728 Qe2-d3 Kg3-g2 e5-e4 Qc1-f4 Qd3-e2 Kg2-h1 7 180 4 381853 Qe2-d3 Kg3-h2 Nd4-c2 Qc1-d1 Qd3-c4 Qd1-c1 Nc2xb4 8 80 18 1940359 Qe2-d3 Kg3-h2 Qd3-e2 Kh2-g3 e5-e4 Rf1-h1 Nd4-e6 Rh1-f1 e4-e3 Rf1-h1 Qe2xg4 9 185 76 6942165 Qe2-d3 Kg3-g2 Nd4-c2 Kg2-h2 10 177 261 25620398 Qe2-d3 Kg3-g2 Nd4-e2 Qc1-e1 Ne2-f4 Kg2-f2 Qd3xh3 Qe1-e3 Qh3-h2 11 239 767 60839295 Qe2-d3 Kg3-h2 Qd3-e2 Kh2-g3 Qe2-d3 Kg3-h2 Qd3-e2 Kh2-g3 Qe2-d3 Kg3-h2 Qd3-e2 12 179 3552 323300893 Qe2-d3 Kg3-g2 Nd4-e2 Qc1-e1 Ne2-f4 Kg2-f2 Qd3xh3 Qe1-e3 Qh3xg4 Qe3xa7 Nf4-d3 My program likes Qd3+ so it can enter with it's knight, and atack the pawns surrounding white's king instead of trying to create the passed pawn on the queens side. Qc4 maybe is ok too but my program can't see if the passed pawn is dangerous or not, and Qd3+ seems to be a sure "win" of material. The 3rd position : [D]8/p7/5k2/Pn1ppp2/1Pp4P/5K2/8/6R1 b - - 0 47 3 99 0 806 e5-e4 Kf3-e3 c4-c3 4 92 0 2091 c4-c3 h4-h5 e5-e4 Kf3-e3 5 99 0 3999 c4-c3 h4-h5 Nb5-d4 Kf3-e3 c3-c2 5 103 0 6476 e5-e4 Kf3-f4 c4-c3 h4-h5 c3-c2 6 90 0 24691 e5-e4 Kf3-f4 c4-c3 h4-h5 d5-d4 h5-h6 6 92 0 36896 c4-c3 Rg1-c1 a7-a6 h4-h5 e5-e4 Kf3-e3 7 83 1 76806 c4-c3 h4-h5 c3-c2 Kf3-f2 d5-d4 Rg1-g6 Kf6-e7 7 101 1 118310 e5-e4 Kf3-f4 Nb5-d4 Rg1-d1 Nd4-e6 Kf4-g3 c4-c3 8 92 4 369013 e5-e4 Kf3-g3 c4-c3 h4-h5 c3-c2 h5-h6 e4-e3 h6-h7 9 106 9 764081 e5-e4 Kf3-f2 c4-c3 h4-h5 c3-c2 Rg1-c1 Nb5-d4 h5-h6 e4-e3 10 81 32 3231588 e5-e4 Kf3-f2 d5-d4 h4-h5 c4-c3 Kf2-f1 c3-c2 Rg1-g6 Kf6-f7 h5-h6 10 88 72 6920867 Nb5-d4 Kf3-f2 Nd4-c2 b4-b5 Nc2-d4 Rg1-d1 c4-c3 Rd1-d3 Nd4xb5 Rd3xd5 11 122 187 17320153 Nb5-d4 Kf3-g2 c4-c3 Rg1-c1 c3-c2 Kg2-f2 12 79 474 49653096 Nb5-d4 Kf3-f2 f5-f4 Rg1-g8 e5-e4 Rg8-a8 e4-e3 Kf2-g2 Nd4-c6 Ra8-f8 12 82 551 57370515 e5-e4 Kf3-f2 c4-c3 h4-h5 f5-f4 Kf2-e1 e4-e3 Rg1-f1 Kf6-g5 h5-h6 Kg5xh6 13 94 1418 126866695 e5-e4 Kf3-f4 Nb5-c7 Rg1-g8 Nc7-e6 Kf4-g3 c4-c3 Kg3-h2 e4-e3 h4-h5 c3-c2 13 126 2036 177112337 Nb5-d4 Kf3-f2 c4-c3 Kf2-e3 f5-f4 Ke3-d3 c3-c2 h4-h5 a7-a6 Rg1-c1 Kf6-e6 My program does suggest Nd4+ but it doubts between that and e4+ , but it doesn't find a real gain, although the PV and the slowly increasing score suggests it'll be capable of creeping forward with it's pawns, but an actual promotion is too deep for my program to see. (especially co'z it seems white can "delay" in a couple of ways (White's h pawn is "dangerous") and my program doesn't do a good near-promotion extention. :( ) Think both moves are good to win, but which move is actually the best a stronger program has to judge..
