No it wasn't. It was the hottest topic *here*. For the rest of the people it was
just another interesting fact like "can we see planets with other stars?" or "is
it possible to build a bionic man?".

It could hardly be more important *here*. For the rest, it's as important as any
media event regarding sports, if you leave out baseball, basketball, football,
soccer, tennis, golf etc etc..

Then where are the bad reactions? I only saw them where the chess afficionados
gathered, like on Internet. For the rest "normal" people watched and said "gosh,
how interesting, a world champion playing a computer."

Don't mix your own obsession with computer chess with the casual interest of
those millions watching.
