How can you stop programs from starting automatically on >start up? Thank you Another place you can look on Win98: Start button, Run..., enter msconfig into the box, press OK button. You should see System Configuration Utility launch. Go to Startup tab and uncheck the items you wish not to run at startup. I personally leave ScanRegistry and SystemTray checked. There are five others that run specific to my computer, 3 for Norton anti-virus, one for my mouse, and a desktop utility (old MS DeskMenu for those that care to know). There are more complex issues that I wish not to cover for practical reasons. Checking for tracking and spyware I suggest "AdAware" and "Spybot - Search & Destroy". I leave it you individual users to research and determine if these two programs are spyware/tracking themselves. I do a little Registry maintainance with RegCleaner and PowerTools by Jouni Vuorio, and MS RegClean. I find TaskInfo to be a handy program to view running process, memory use, loaded files, ect.. As always, any software you install, run, or things you might try due to my suggestions is completely at your own risk. Take Care, BK
