The problem with this position is that white has sacrificed quite a lot and has a draw in the back pocket. Thus a program may at some times indicate a false draw score at lower depths when it does not see a way forward. That situation is pretty common in double rook endgames. As for the former rook endgame: tablebases won't help much there. The added information is offset by a sharp decline in nodes. You would need to have the TB's in memory to get a positive effect. The best try seems to be 1... Kf5 with the intention of either blocking the pawn with the king or posting it at d7 shouldering the white king aside. If it is a win or not I'm unsure of. But in practice it will win. Especially if the end of the game is in a fixed time. White will try a couple of winning tries per 50 moves and then push the pawn. And black will have to defend perfectly at all moves. And his time will mercilessly tick down. MvH Dan Andersson
