Thanks Thorsten and others who replied. I will try the beta engines. Looks like beta 3,4 and 5 also look promising from your homepage results. I've also been exploring different personalities since downloading the Rebel XP for dos upgrade several months ago. I run test suites and play engine vs engine matches using Ed's and Jeroen's special opening book. Unfortunately I do not have two computers for testing against other engines. Currently I am using a personalaity called Athena. At game in 30 vs Rebel default it is up 23 - 14 in eng vs eng (one computer). It is also better in test suites. Of course I realize that this does not mean it is a better engine than the default. I just do it for fun. It also allows me to tell my friends when they ask me, "what have you been doing?" by replying, "I'm hanging out with Athena". [PERSONALITY: Athena] [Pawn Value = 100] [Knight Value = 100] [Bishop Value = 100] [Rook Value = 100] [Queen Value = 100] [King Safety = 132] [Mobility = 100] [Pawn Structure = 100] [Passed Pawns = 104] [Pins = 100] [Bishop Pair = 100] [Chess Knowledge = 200] [Attractiveness = 115] [Attacking = 110] [Strength of Play = 100] [Draw Contempt Factor = 0.00] [Selective Search = 100] [Search Technique = NULLMOVE] [Pruning = MISC_08] [Pruning = MISC_15] [Pruning = MISC_19] [Pruning = MISC_20] [Pruning = DRAW_DEPTH=9] [ANTI-GM = OFF] [EVALUATION = NORMAL] [Extensions (remaining)= 291] [Extensions (checks)= 382] [Extensions (captures)= 200] Do you still have the page that explains how to interpret the pruning extensions? It was the page that contained the dialogue between you and Ed Schroder. If you still have it you should post it here again for those now downloading Rebel 12. It is crucial in understanding how to use the [Pruning = MISC_19] and [Extensions (remaining)= 291] [Extensions (checks)= 382] [Extensions (captures)= 200] settings.
