Hello! A friend asked me how many people in the world made enough money on chess programming. Since what he really wanted to know if I could make any money on it I told him I probably never would, but I think it's quite an interesting question, maybe chess programming is more exclusive than being a multi-millionaire (that would actually make me feel quite odd (and that's good))? Note: By that I mean programmers/developers being paid for developing chess engines. Or possibly any programmer selling his own software by himself. My guess that is based on a hunch is around 50, am I far from it? Are there any good ways to make money from chess programming except from working for a software developer? Like tournaments, being paid for research at universities etc? Regards Albert Bertilsson
