If you were to take the top 20 programs and have them compete with some running on inferior hardware, are there any that would still consistently win? Or is it the hardware that makes all the difference? An example would be a Crafty version of 2 years ago running on a fast home PC you just bought. Playing it against maybe Fritz 8 on a machine that is 2 years old. Would Fritz 8 be able to win a match?
