All I can speculate is that some host between me and you is rejecting either packets from you, or packets from me, for reasons unknown. It's not that easy to figure out who is doing this if they drop the packets on the floor, rather than outright rejecting them. Note that there are a bunch of hops between us. Just because I haven't changed a thing and you haven't, doesn't mean that someone in the middle has not. We are typically running about 30-40 ftp users, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from all over the world. So our basic connectivity is working, and we have connections both thru internet1 and internet2, but that only gets data into and out of UAB. That doesn't help with the intermediate routers and gateways.
