Subject: Is there a reason not to have a sale list of chess programs

I mean something like this
Sales in 2002
chessmaster9000 173303 copies
Fritz7          121047 copies
Fritz8           70345 copies
...

Is there a reason for chess programmers to hide that information and if there is
a reason what is the reason?

Another list that may be interesting is list of free programs based on the
number of people who downloaded it.

It may be something like this:
Ruffian1.0.1     256043 downloads
Crafty19.01      234123 downloads
...

I do not know the real numbers and all my numbers are only for giving an
example.
