Hello Derek,

you are right but in fact the beta5.eng,or 6,or 7 works:
you must use a layout with "info window" for example:Menu Layout:Standard layout
and choice set 3.
Next it' is important to control the colors:for the text of Info Window:
Go to:Menu:Colors Click Pull down line and choice for example a good visible
color:black.
Now you can testing the effects:for example choice novice.eng.
choice a short level of time: 2sec and In Option Menu, choice Automatic
play:and so you can sea after 4 or 5 moves this information on your screen:
"For this (weakened) level ,Rebel will now stop using its opening book"
This is a proof of the effect of "novice.eng".You can see at every move
in the info window:ply,hash,engine(for example novice.eng or beta7.eng)Time.
